Icelounge.com heats up action sports

Icelounge.com, a social networking Web site that began as an online community for skateboarders and is now reaches the entire action sports/youth demographic, is now letting members send video and photos from cellphones directly to their online profile.

Since its launch in March of 2005, icelounge.com has attracted over 25,000 members from all over the globe, who have contributed in excess of 12,000 videos and 60,000 photos thus far. The member-generated content keeps “loungers” online for an average of 20 minutes per session and attracts 500+ new members a week. Around-the-clock, icelounge.com is using its own social networking platform to collect consumer- generated data from the highly desirable and influential action sports/youth demographic.

The new cellphone functionality is part of version 2.0, offering members the ability to send video and photos from mobile phones directly to their member profile. For the first time, members can post content to the web without having to download to their computer.

Icelounge.com also provides a means for professional athletes to interact with their fans on a personal level. “icelounge presents an easy way to stay in touch with true supporters of skateboarding and it gives me a chance to see, in real-time, how skateboarding is evolving. As the premier social network for skateboarders all over the world, icelounge.com is currently expanding into other action sports and accumulating user-generated content from surfing, snowboarding, motocross and BMX.
