Globo TV hits Web

Globo TV Sports, Brazil’s largest sports broadcaster, is finally getting a Web presence. The site, www.globotvsports.com, includes updated information about football matches of the Brazilian Championship, S o Paulo Championship, Rio de Janeiro Championship and the Brazilian Cup, in addition to the history of the most important Brazilian teams and timetables of the next games. In February, the site will be completed and will include interviews with several football stars and daily bulletins with behind-the-scene information about the most popular sport in Brazil.

The page also offers a brief history of the other sports offered by the Brazilian distributor, including marathons, stock car competition and futsal championships.

With the home page, we ll show the world the daily events of Brazilian football and talk about the players who made the headlines in the season. Football accounts for 70% of the licensing catalogue of Globo TV Sports. Under the Brazilian Magic Football brand, the distributor s package includes 82 live games of the Brasileiro (Brazilian National Championship), Carioca (Rio de Janeiro Championship), Paulista (S o Paulo Championship) and Copa do Brasil (Brazilian Cup) championships, for the 2006 to 2008 seasons. The matches are broadcast with English narration and commentaries, with interfaces and statistics especially created for the international market.

In addition to footbal, Globo TV Sports also offers the 2006 Stock Car competition, non-official games of the Brazilian National futsal team that takes place in Brazil and marathons like Sao Silvestre and the Sao Paulo International.
