Twins schedule stadium groundbreaking event

The
official groundbreaking for the new Twins ballpark in downtown

Minneapolis will follow the Twins-Royals game
on Aug. 2.

The game
begins at 12:10 p.m. at the Metrodome. The groundbreaking will be at the site
of the new ballpark.

The site
will open to the public at 5 p.m. and feature a free concert and other
activities scheduled beginning at 5:15 p.m. The ceremony will start at 7 p.m.
and end around 8 p.m.

The
ballpark, not yet named, is scheduled to open for the 2010 season. Its cost
currently is estimated at $522 million.
