Globecomm’s Spreizer to Speak at PTC’10

Steven Spreizer, Globecomm Systems VP for network engineering, will be a featured speaker at PTC‘10 on Jan. 17 in Honolulu, HI during the “Integrating Satellite Services into the Cloud” workshop by the Society of Satellite Professionals International and the World Teleport Association.

PTC‘10 is the annual conference of the Pacific Telecommunications Council that brings together senior telecom and satellite industry leaders, legal and telecommunications experts from academic institutes worldwide, and noted civil analysts and technical experts from governments in the Pacific Rim and North America.

In his presentation, titled “Surfing the Cloud: New Concepts for Content Distribution,” Spreizer will describe the technologies and processes that make possible IP-based video acquisition, management, and distribution, as well as the impact of cloud computing on the entire process. He will outline the concepts and technologies that are bringing news and entertainment to an anywhere-anytime-any platform world, and what the opportunities are for carriers and content providers in Asia.

Globecomm and Spreizer recently deployed next-generation IP networks for DTH and built and designed new processing centers for carriers including India’s Bharti Airtel.

“Networks have become highly collaborative and the IP platform has radically changed the potential for carriers and providers. We are going to take a look at what this means and talk about our work for Bharti Airtel,” says Mr. Spreizer.

The second annual Workshop will also feature ViaSat’s CEO Mark Dankberg as the keynote speaker and include three panels exploring the relationship between satellite communications in Asia and the impact of cloud computing on issues such as bandwidth availability, management of content, and future considerations.
