PMTV To Support Two Feeds of World Boxing Classic

PMTV is sending a crew of 50 to Detroit’s Joe Louis Arena this Saturday to support two separate productions of the Super Six World Boxing Classic. Andre Dirrell will face off against Arthur Abraham in the main event, broadcast on Showtime in the U.S., and PMTV will support the broadcast for Germany’s ARD Network and the world feed, produced by Sauerland Event.

For ARD Network, PMTV is providing unilateral broadcast services, including an HD television truck, TV crews, HD satellite uplink trucks, satellite transponders, teleport relays, fiber transmission services, a venue site survey, technical management, and production-coordination services.

“The core work is the accumulation of wealth of data,” says PMTV President Brian Powers. “Then, we sift through all of that and create a professional, readable technical plan that’s shared by many disparate people.”

PMTV has been working with ARD Network since 1998, but no two events are alike.

“We’ve been doing this for 20 years, but it’s not like baking a cake, where you put the same ingredients in,” Powers says. “Every time, you get your ingredients from different locations.”

For Sauerland Event Television’s world feed, PMTV is providing an uplink truck, satellite transponders, and world-feed network coordination that will bring the broadcast to locations in Asia, South America, and Europe.

“We’re parking one uplink truck the afternoon before for some b-roll playouts, and then the HDTV truck and the other uplink truck comes in the morning of the show,” Powers explains. “It’s not the Super Bowl, but these international events are very interesting. We’re the ultimate three-ring-circus leader because we do full broadcast productions, truck and crew, transmissions, satellite time. This is what we do.”
