NAB Preview: Ikegami To Debut 3D Switcher

Ikegami Electronics (USA) is displaying HD cameras and equipment designed for production of stereoscopic 3D programming, as well as HD cameras and monitors for 3G-SDI (SMPTE 424M) 1080p/60 HD image capture and display, multiformat HD mega-pixel CMOS cameras, HD cameras with convenient built-in SMPTE fiber and triax connectivity, and the tapeless, workflow-efficient GFCam HD ENG camcorder. GFCam features to be introduced include 24p/25p/30p native-recording capability and a proxy-video option, as well as new low-cost 64/128-GB Flash media that uses MLC technology with 10,000 times rewrite capacity.

Other new products include the HDK-729P high-end CCD production cameras with 16-bit A/D, the new HDL-50DL POV “box” camera for 3G-SDI HD video capture, the economical new HLM-1704WR and HLM-904WR flat-panel HD video monitors, and the compact, affordable new HSS-200 production switcher.

For 3D HD video production, Ikegami will exhibit its new CSU-3D camera-switching unit that supports up to four pairs of HD cameras. The CSU-3D is particularly handy for shooting major events in 3D HD, such as football and baseball games or rock concerts. It provides extensive setup and adjustment controls for four pairs of HD cameras and then maintains those control settings in parallel throughout the production. It also ensures that any subsequent camera adjustments are shared precisely by each camera pair, maintaining matched camera settings for optimum 3D HD image capture.

Ikegami will also exhibit HD cameras and HD flat-panel monitors operating in 3G-SDI (SMPTE 424M) for image capture and display of 1080p/60 HD video of stunning clarity in either 2D or stereoscopic 3D. Camera models include the new HDL-50DL POV box camera and the HDK-79EC/HS dual-processor HD super-slow-motion camera. 3G-SDI HD monitors include the HLM-2450W and the HLM-1750WR.
