Net Insight’s New Channelized IP Trunk Module, Performance-Monitoring Capabilities Advance IP Media Networks

Net Insight has introduced a Channelized IP Trunk module and the capability for end-to-end performance monitoring on all IP/Ethernet channels, providing IP media networks with advanced quality of service (QoS) and manageability.

Available in all Nimbra platforms, the module provides a transport solution featuring multiservice operation, optional intermediate switching, and signal regeneration for enhanced QoS preservation. Operators can create scalable, cost-efficient IP media networks over IP or in combined IP and SDH/SONET or WDM networks, with high quality and end-to-end management capability.

Nimbra enables one unified media network, independent of underlying infrastructure, with maintained content integrity, reliability, and control. Operators also can set the QoS transport bandwidth that optimizes the use of the network infrastructure, a critical component for last-mile connections.

In addition, Forward Error Correction (FEC) is not only performed end-to-end per service but also can be performed per hop, reducing overhead and improving QoS compared with legacy methods. In each Nimbra hop, full resynchronization of the streams is performed, improving end-to-end QoS.

Net Insight also announced the addition of end-to-end performance-monitoring capabilities on all IP/Ethernet channels, enabling operators to verify quality of service to end-users and customers without adding costly IP network probes.

The new module and performance-monitoring capabilities are fully interoperable with the other interfaces found within the Nimbra platforms. They are exhibited at the NAB Show in Net Insight’s booth (SU3223).
