Former Mavericks Exec Opens Sports Broadcast Consulting Firm

Dave Evans, long-time director of broadcasting for the Dallas Mavericks, has left the organization to begin Vantedge Consulting Group, a sports broadcast consultancy that will be based in Dallas, TX. “The years with the Mavericks were the most gratifying of my professional career but it was time to move on to another adventure,” says Evans.

Evans says the firm is consulting on three inter-connected areas of business: sports broadcasting and production, professional development, and public image enhancement. He adds that there is often a disconnect between the marketing and operations side of the sports broadcast business and one of his goals to help close that gap.

“Many sports consulting firms focus on the sales and marketing side of the business and have ancillary services that relate to broadcasting,” says Evans. “We are looking to add to what these companies are doing with a broader perspective, not only on both sides of the camera but also both sides of the business, between marketing and operations.”

In addition the firm will stress professional development, including enhancing education for students and career seekers as well as reinforcing the growth of established professionals. Talent coaching

“Depth and training are real issues in our industry,” adds Chris McKinney, a career development specialist partnering with Vantedge. “And we are looking to be part of the solution to the problem by creating resources and experiences that will augment what is happening at schools.”
