Campus Clips: BCS Bowl Pairings Set; Atlantic Sun Bringing Live Games to ESPN3

On Sunday, the BCS announced its 2012 bowl pairings. The slate will begin with Oregon battling Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl presented by VIZIO on Jan. 2 in Pasadena, Calif. at 5 p.m ET. Oklahoma State will meet Stanford in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl later that night at 8:30 p.m. On Jan. 3, Michigan faces Virginia Tech in the Allstate Sugar Bowl in New Orleans, La., at 8:30 p.m while Clemon takes on West Virginia in the Discover Orange Bowl on Jan. 4 at 8:30 p.m.  The series will be capped off, as always, by the Allstate BCS National Championship Game, which showcases an SEC rematch between Alabama and LSU on Jan. 9 in New Orleans, La. at 8:30 p.m. All BCS games will be aired live on ESPN, which will also carry the National Championship Game in 3D…

…The Atlantic Sun Conference and ESPN have teamed up to deliver exclusive content on ESPN3. A total of 20 live league basketball games will be distributed in 2011-12. The addition of games on ESPN3 extends ESPN’s current five-year deal with the Atlantic Sun, which continues through the 2013-14 season…

…The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) and digital media partner NeuLion, Inc. have launched of the league’s first mobile application for the Android platform. Both the free and premium apps contain the latest news, schedules, scores, standings, photos, and live stats of select games. The premium app also allows users to access on-demand video and live streaming audio delivered from MAAC.TV…

…For the second straight year, the DePauw athletic department is streaming all home basketball games from Neal Fieldhouse with play-by-play provided by 91.5 WGRE, the campus radio station that carries all men’s and women’s games. DePauw negotiated with Stretch Internet to stream on a game-by-game basis using its servers. Stretch Internet also currently provides the live feeds for University of Cincinnati, Florida State, UCLA and Indiana University, among others…

…The NFL Players Association and IMG Worldwide Inc. announced a strategic partnership to develop the inaugural AstroTurf NFLPA Collegiate Bowl, set to take place on the campus of California State University Dominguez Hills in Carson, CA on January 21, 2012. Under the terms of the agreement, IMG Events and Federations will consult and support event and game day operations for the AstroTurf NFLPA Collegiate Bowl. The game is designed to showcase the top draft eligible collegiate football players from across the country…

…ESPN Chairman George Bodenheimer will speak at the “A Mirror of Our Culture: Sport and Society in America” conference hosted by the Green Bay Packers and St. Norbert College in May. The conference draws academics and professionals working in sports-related fields for events at St. Norbert and Lambeau Field. It was announced last month that Bodenheimer will move on as of Jan. 1 from his current positions as president of ESPN and ABC Sports and co-chair of Disney Media Networks to become executive chairman of ESPN.
