NAB 2012: Ericsson Addresses Linear and On-Demand TV Needs
Ericsson will show a complete portfolio of solutions for both linear and on-demand TV. The company plans to demonstrate how it is driving multi-screen entertainment with vision and solutions that enable operators to provide unique TV experiences, on all devices.
NAB will see the launch of a number of new products, extending Ericsson’s position in enabling broadcasters and operators to acquire, exchange, and deliver high quality content with best-in-class video processing performance.
Ericsson will be showing new multi-codec versions of its Voyager DSNG and Contribution Encoding platforms, offering MPEG-2, MPEG-4, and JPEG 2000 in the same product, and SD, HD and 1080p workflows.
In fixed contribution, combining all three compression technologies in a single product line maximizes operational flexibility, reduces engineering and operational staff training costs, and simplifies both initial installation and also long term support, compared to a ‘mix and match’ multi vendor environment.
In DSNG, truck operators can now roll to event and use just one encoding platform for either Satellite or IP based contribution. That simplifies scheduling, saves rack space, and means only one system for operators to learn and only one technology for engineers to maintain, which translates to better services and improved ROI.
Demonstrations of Ericsson’s latest solutions will show how the company is maximizing content value, enabling efficient video delivery, powering multi-screen TV consumer experiences and making Linear TV viable in a multi-platform world.
