NeuLion, NEP Partner With Univision Deportes to Stream El Tri Friendly Live in 4K
NeuLion and NEP have partnered with Univision Deportes to deliver a 4K live stream of the upcoming friendly match between Mexico’s National Team and Senegal taking place at Marlins Park Stadium in Miami, Florida on February 10, to Sony 4K Ultra HD TVs.
The event will be streamed live in 4K using the NeuLion Digital Platform and delivered over-the-top (OTT) to Sony 4K Ultra HD TVs that have integrated the NeuLion 4K Streaming SDK for viewing at Marlins Park Stadium. The live event, produced by Univision Deportes and NEP and delivered by NeuLion, is being streamed in advance of a new Univision Deportes 4K that will be made available for select 4K devices in the coming months. NEP will provide a 4K mobile unit, cameras with long sports lenses in native 4K, EVS playback 4K machines, 4K VIZ graphics unit and a Sony multi-channel 4K hard drive recorder to archive the historic broadcast.
“NeuLion has worked with our partners to create the only end-to-end solution on the market for the delivery, monetization and distribution of 4K video at 60 frames per second video on the world’s most popular devices. We’re very excited to partner with Univision and Sony to put that solution to work,” says Dr. Kanaan Jemili, CEO of NeuLion. “Coming on the heels of our successful 4K live streaming trial with the NBA and BT Sport, this event further demonstrates that live 4K sporting events are the wave of the very near future.”
“What makes 4K so exciting is how it enhances the experience for our fans and how we can boost their passion for our sports in a truly immersive way,” says Univision Deportes President Juan Carlos Rodriguez. “Soccer matches are won and lost with lots of detail on the field of play, and with 4K, the fans are closer than ever to the insider experience. The popularity of our Univision Deportes App reveals that our fans are eager for more sports and we are the leader in the soccer fan experience. With the proliferation of 4K-capable devices and content, we are excited to take this first step to deliver a soccer match in 4K with NeuLion and Sony.”
“Live sports is compelling due to its ability to engage an audience. We have already integrated the NeuLion 4K Streaming SDK and are excited to collaborate with NeuLion and Univision on this 4K live streaming event,” says Nick Colsey, Vice President of Business Development of Sony Visual Products.
