… Broadcaster FOX Sports has partnered with Japanese car manufacturer Lexus and tech company NextVR, to provide fans with an innovative viewing experience of the 116th U.S. Open golf tournament. The offering includes 360-degree views of the tee and greens at holes 9, 17 and 18. It is also possible to watch pre-produced features of each hole and players on the practice range each morning, with the capability of moving between holes 10 and 12. FOX Sports has included aerial drones in their technological offerings, giving viewers the option to watch the different courses. The aerial drones will show the daily changes in hole locations with graphics on-screen along with challenges occurring to players. Selected tees at the golf tournament will have shot tracers measuring data such as club speed, ball speed, launch angle and spin rate of the ball. New to this year’s technology is the addition of radio-frequency mobile rangefinders providing precise yardages of shots…

… NBC Olympics will hit the beach for its coverage of the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, setting up both an indoor and outdoor studio on Copacabana Beach for its daytime and late night coverage. There will also be hi-def video monitors to showcase highlights from the events. The sets will feature panoramic views of the beach, Sugarloaf Mountain and the Rio coastline. Ryan Seacrest will host NBC’s late night coverage of the games, while the hosts for NBC’s daytime coverage are expected to be announced soon. Bob Costas will serve as NBC’s primetime host for the 11th time from its studio in the International Broadcast Center.
