UNC-Charlotte Invests In Centerhung Videoboard at Halton Arena

Charlotte 49ers fans will be greeted by a new centerpiece in Halton Arena when the 2016-17 athletic season begins this fall as the university has selected Daktronics to produce a new centerhung LED video display system. The system will be installed this summer.

It’s a first-class system and our fans will love the added excitement it brings to our games. We can’t wait to unveil it!”

Four main LED displays will form a square configuration with one ring-shaped display above and one below the main displays. The four main displays will each measure more than 9 feet high by 16.5 feet wide and each will feature a tight 6 millimeter line spacing for crisp, clear imagery.

Each main display is capable of variable content zoning which allows each to show one large image or to be divided into separate zones. These zones can show any combination of live video, instant replays, up-to-the-minute statistics, animations and sponsorship messages.

The upper ring display will measure 2 feet high by 85 feet around and the bottom ring display will measure 2 feet high by 56 feet around. Both will feature 10 millimeter line spacing and be able to show supplemental information to the main displays such as statistics and sponsorship information throughout events.

“This is a great project that will improve an already exciting game-day atmosphere inside Halton Arena,” said Corey Williams, Daktronics sales representative. “We’re looking forward to seeing the final installation having an impact on Charlotte 49ers fans this fall.”

Additionally, three auxiliary video displays will welcome fans to the venue, each measuring more than 6 feet high by 10 feet wide and featuring 12 millimeter line spacing. These displays will provide additional space for event promotion, live statistics and sponsorship messages.

Two fixed-digit scoreboards are included with the installation as well as locker room clocks, shot clocks and auxiliary clocks to keep everyone informed of the game time and statistics throughout events.

California State University Fullerton Adds Daktronics Digital Street Furniture
Daktronics was selected by California State University Fullerton to provide two double-sided digital street furniture displays on campus in Fullerton, California. Installation was completed in May and is currently sharing university messages with students and community members.

“We are excited that we partnered with Daktronics to install two new digital street furniture displays on campus,” said Aaron Tapper, assistant director of athletics and marketing at Fullerton. “The signs will provide another opportunity to keep our faculty, staff, students and visitors informed of current athletic news and events. In addition, they will provide a new revenue stream for the athletic department by providing our corporate sponsor a way to directly advertise to our campus community.”

These European-inspired, eye-level LED video displays each measure just more than 5 feet high by 4 feet wide and feature 6 millimeter line spacing to provide crisp, clear imagery at close viewing distances. These displays can be used to promote campus events, show emergency information, and show advertising and sponsorship messages to passersby. Being double sided allows the application to appeal to traffic moving in both directions as students and fans arrive at the venue and leave after the event is over.
